77. A mother is 21 years older than her child. In exactly 6 years from now, the mother will be exactly 5 times as old as the child.

illustration of a family for you to determine the ages Slight twist on a classic puzzle. You might be able to guess the answer, if not then chug on with working the numbers until it's revealed. I'm sure you've seen these before, 'in 6 months time I'll be twice as old as my dog.' It comes down to some fairly simple algebra.

Two confirm the equations you'll be solving are:

M = C + 21

M + 6 = 5(C + 6)

Two equations, two unknowns. Easy. If not, have a Google of simultaneous equations.
